UWC makes education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future
UWC Maastricht
At UWC Maastricht, students from around the world come together to learn, live and shape their place in it. Our international primary and secondary school bring together over 900 students from more than 100 countries, including a residential community on campus. Guided by our mission to make education a force for peace and a sustainable future, students are encouraged not only to gain knowledge, but to use it with purpose. This environment is made possible by a diverse and international staff community, working both inside and outside the classroom to support students and bring this to life every day. We are looking for people who want to contribute to this and who are motivated to make a meaningful impact through their work.
Due to the visa/work permit requirements, we can only appoint people with an EU-passport or valid work permit for the Netherlands.
Fundraising Officer
Does building strong relationships and creating meaningful social impact give you energy? As Fundraising Officer at UWC Maastricht, you play an important role in securing support for scholarships and mission driven initiatives that create opportunities for young people from all over the world.
You will become part of The Advancement Team. This team is responsible for Philanthropy, Marketing/Communications and Alumni Relations. Together, we build long term relationships with donors, alumni, parents, foundations, companies and other partners who want to contribute to the UWC mission: making education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future.
You will work in a small, ambitious and hands on team where lines are short and there is room for initiative, ownership and new ideas. Your work is varied: you support fundraising campaigns, approach new prospects, contribute to grant proposals, organise relationship events, support stewardship, create marketing and communications materials and help build sustainable connections with donors, alumni and partners.
Key responsibilities
The Fundraising Officer will:
Help identify, research and approach new prospects, including individuals, foundations, companies, alumni and other potential partners.
Recognise opportunities for collaboration, partnership and support, and follow up on these opportunities in a professional way
Build, maintain and strengthen relationships with donors, parents, alumni, companies, foundations and external stakeholders.
Support the preparation and submission of grant proposals for scholarships and school projects.
Support fundraising campaigns, donor engagement activities and online and offline marketing/communication.
Ensure accurate processing, recording and stewardship of donations, pledges and agreements.
Profile
We are looking for someone who feels strongly connected to the mission of UWC Maastricht and enjoys working in an international, inclusive and diverse school community. You like working in an environment shaped by young people from many different cultural, social and educational backgrounds.
You are curious, open minded and comfortable engaging with students, colleagues, alumni, donors, parents and external partners. You enjoy building connections and know how to turn conversations into meaningful relationships.
You are goal oriented and results driven. You take ownership, follow up carefully and enjoy working towards concrete fundraising targets and meaningful outcomes. You combine idealism with action and know how to turn opportunities into results.
UWC Maastricht is a dynamic and high energy environment. The work is meaningful and rewarding, but it also requires flexibility and engagement. Many fundraising and relationship building activities, including donor meetings, school events and external events, take place outside regular office hours.
Qualifications and experience
The successful candidate has:
A completed relevant bachelor's or master's degree.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Dutch language skills are considered a strong advantage.
Experience or strong affinity with fundraising, account management, education, social impact, international relations, marketing, communications or sales.
A fun person to work with! We look for somebody who can not only build connections across our community and prospects, but is also looking forward to becoming part of a nice small team that values a personal relationship.
